Leadership for Freedom from Poverty

by: Haroon Aziz

This book is the product of theoretical reflection and practical application since the ANC underground days, followed by UNISA outreach program in Soweto, Lenasia, and Eldorado Park, in South Africa. The methodology for the delivery of curriculum is an interactive workshop.

It is based on a proven leadership model that imparts the skills for individuals and collectives to implement their responsibilities to liberate themselves and their communities from physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual poverty.

It covers a wide range of subjects – psychology, physical exercises, energy, change, relationships, emotional management, intrinsic motivation, mental athleticism, leadership roles and styles, adaptation, Mao Zedong, Amilcar Cabral, social entrepreneurship, marketing.

It matches leadership roles and styles to famous freedom fighters like President Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, Molvi Cachalia, Walter Sisulu, and Dr Yusuf Dadoo.

It aims to contribute towards the creation of new human beings based on humane values, free from hedonistic consumer values and cultural imperialism.

Haroon Aziz is a South African whose primary discipline is quantum physics and secondary discipline is history and biography. In the ANC underground he taught political education and martial arts and specialised in bomb-making. He served a few terms of imprisonment. His three seminal works are on the philosophy of energy, the energy-field theory of the mind, and the neuroscientific theory of cognitive-spiritual education.

About This Book
Overview

A collective leadership is as good as the sum of the leadership skills of its individuals. Individual leaders are required to have the skills of either facilitators, or coordinators, or animators, or a combination of them. One of these skills has to be their primary strength and the others may be their secondary or tertiary strength.

While the collective leadership may be all-possible things to its entire constituency, individuals have to be specific and primary role players as facilitators, or coordinators, or animators.

Individuals come weaned from their mothers, who are the primary repositories of family and cultural values. And they should enter the collective leadership as the physical embodiments of their homely values with respect for the diversity of values, which prevail within the collective leadership. This is internal wisdom, which sets individuals on the road to genuine democracy.
